Divya Unni, the actress-dancer is the new addition to the list of divorced Malayalam celebrities. Reportedly, Divya has separated from husband Dr. Sudhir Shekharan after a 14-year-long married life.

The actress confirmed the news in the exclusive interview given to popular women's magazine, Vanitha. Divya stated that it is an unfortunate and sad end to a relationship, that was expected to last forever.

Acting Debut

Divya Unni made her acting debut as a child artist, with the movie Nee Ethra Dhanya at the age of 7. She made her debut in lead roles with Vinayan's Kalyana Sowgandhikam.

Acting Career

Divya established herself as one of the leading actresses of Malayalam movie industry, with a career span of 5 years. She has also acted in some popular Tamil films and a couple of Telugu projects.

Family

Divya Unni was born as the elder daughter of Ponnothumadam Unnikrishnan and Uma. She has a younger sister named Vidhya, who has also acted in a few Malayalam films.

Marriage

Divya Unni married Dr. Sudhir Shekharan at the age of 21, and decided to take a break from her acting career. It was purely an arranged marriage for the couple.

Settled In USA

The actress moved to USA post marriage, to settle with husband Sudhir Shekharan. She made her TV debut during that time, through the popular show American Jalakam, aired in Asianet.

Dance School

Divya Unni started a dance school named Sreepadam School of Arts in Houston, Texas, US with a branch in Kochi. She is highly active with her dance career as well.

Children

Divya and Sudhir have 2 kids, son Arjun Unni Shekhar and daughter Meenakshi. As per the reports, the kids are living with their mother post the divorce of their parents.

Now, her only aim is the well-being of her kids. Reportedly, the actress will permanently shift back to her hometown Kochi soon, with kids Arjun and Meenakshi and is planning to live with her parents.

Even though Divya hasn't revealed the reason behind the divorce, the grapevine suggests that it was Sudhir's extramarital affair which led to the split. However, the reports are yet to be officially confirmed.
