Malayalam film industry has pinned high hopes on the month of December. The reason is simple, as the end of the year would witness some big releases during the Christmas season of 2016
Big stars of the film industry have some interesting movies in the line-up for release. The Christmas season is considered to be a good one for the industry, as festival season offers good prospects for the films.
But, this year's Christmas would be devoid of films some of the major stars of the film industry, including Mammootty and Nivin Pauly. Take a look at the major stars of Mollywood, who won't have a Christmas release in 2016.
Mammootty
Mammootty fans were eager to watch their favourite star's film, The Great Father, during this Christmas season. Unfortunately, the makers of the film have decided to release the film in January and now the actor won't have any releases during this Christmas season.
Dileep
Usually, a Dileep movie is a certain hit during the festival seasons and hence makers are always keen to release the star's movie during such seasons. Unfortunately, the actor won't have a release during this Christmas season. Georgettan's Pooram, which was scheduled as a Christmas release would hit the theatres in January 2017.
Fahadh Faasil
Fahadh Faasil has had only two releases in this year and the actor won't have a Christmas release. The actor, at present, is busy filming his upcoming Malayalam movie with Rafi, which has been titled as Role Models.
Kunchacko Boban
Kunchacko Boban is another major Mollywood star, who is devoid of a Christmas release, this year. The actor's upcoming project is the one which marks the directorial debut of editor Maneesh Narayanan. The film has a few more portions to be shot and would hit the theatres only in 2017.
Nivin Pauly
Nivin Pauly, whose previous release Jacobinte Swargarajyam, which hit the theatres in the month of April, won't have any more releases, this year. Earlier, actor's upcoming film with Althaf, was planned as a Christmas release, but has now been postponed.
So, Christmas 2016 would witness Dulquer Salmaan, Mohanlal and Prithviraj, fighting out at the box office. Actor Jayasurya is also expected to join the race with his upcoming film Fukri, directed by Siddique.
Dulquer Salmaan's Jomonte Suvisheshangal would be the first film to hit the theatres. The film is scheduled to release on December 16, 2016. Mohanlal starrer Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol, would hit the theatres on December 22, 2016 and Prithviraj's Ezra is also expected to hit the same weekend.
