Thoppil Joppan Became A Big Hit As It Was Released With Pulimurugan, Says Johny Antony

The Pooja holidays did witness a big box office war, with Mohanlal's Pulimurugan locking horns with Mammootty's Thoppil Joppan.

The upper hand was for Pulimurugan, with the film releasing in close to 160 theatres in Kerala. Meanwhile, Thoppil Joppan released in above 100 theatres.

Pulimurugan has emerged as a big box office success, with the film breaking many box office collection records. But, Thoppil Joppan is not far behind; the Mammootty film is also garnering good collections at the box office.

Recently, in a press meet organised by Trivandrum Press Club, Johny Antony, the director of Thoppil Joppan, spoke about the success of the movie.

He stated that Thoppil Joppan became such a big success, since the makers were able to release the film on the very same day, along with Mohanlal's Pulimurugan. He also conveyed that the release date of Thoppil Joppan was decided way back.

According to him, the competition that surfaced between the big movies, has helped the movie a lot. The director mentioned that the support of family audiences have led the movie to become a big hit.

Johny Antony also spoke about the fake news that is spreading around, regarding Thoppil Joppan's television premieres. He stated that such practices are not good for the industry and the makers are planning to launch a complaint with the Cyber cell.

Meanwhile, Thoppil Joppan is enjoying a sweet run at the box office. Reportedly, the film has grossed 9.5 Crores in the first week of its release.

All eyes are on the film, as the film has emerged to be one of the biggest hits of Mammootty in the recent times. We have to wait and see, to know whether the film would be Mammootty's first entry to the 30-Crore Club.
