Kerala State Film Awards 2015: Why We Think These Nominees Are More Deserving?

By Akhila Menon

Kerala State Film Awards 2015 results are finally out. Like the last few years, the State Film Award results have stirred up controversies this year as well. Both the media and the audiences are highly disappointed with the award results, so are we!

So we decided to present to you a list of more deserving nominees from the respective categories of awards, which we think are unjustifiable....

Best Movie

Kerala State Film Awards 2015: Why We Think These Nominees Are More Deserving?

We are still clueless about the criterias which are considered for the Best Movie award. But what we feel is, the movie has to be equally worthy in terms of theme, technical brilliance, and audience acceptance. So, we feel that it was RS Vimal's Ennu Ninte Moideen, which should have won the Best Movie award.

Best Actor

This category of award is the major subject of controversy today. The winner, Dulquer Salmaan was just brilliant in Charlie. But there were some other nominees, including Mammootty, Jayasurya, and Prithviraj, who astonished the industry with their exceptional performances. Especially, we are disappointed about restricting Jayasurya's performance with just a Special Jury award.

Best Movie Providing Wholesome Entertainment

We were just surprised to know that, Premam, the biggest blockbuster of the year, was not even considered for this category. The award for the Best Movie Providing Wholesome Entertainment is purely based on the popularity and audience acceptance of the movie. And we cannot find any better deserving film, than Premam.

Best Director

Martin Prakkat undoubtedly did a great job in Charlie, but it was not brilliant enough to surpass the 8 years long effort that RS Vimal put on Ennu Ninte Moideen. All of us were really upset to know that Vimal was not even in the final round. Truly a disheartening move by the State Award jury.

Best Debutante Director

Okay, we respect the jury's decision to give away the award for Best Direction to Martin Prakkat. But, what about the Best Debutante Director category? We don't think that Sreebala K Menon's Love 24x7 was a perfect film from any angle. The entire movie industry and media will agree that RS Vimal truly deserved this award. The most disappointing decision of State Award jury 2015.
