Mohanlal movies do have a huge demand in the remake market and the history proves that. Take a look at some of the lesser known other language remakes of Mohanlal movies.

Mohanlal has a lot of blockbusters to his credit and his movies have always had a pan-Indian appeal. And that might be the prime reason why many of his movies have been remade to other Indian languages.

We are quite sure that you all have heard a lot about the remakes of popular Mohanlal movies like Drishyam, Manichithrathazhu etc. But, there are many other Mohanlal movies, which have been remade to other languages.

Here we list some of the lesser known other language remakes of Mohanlal movies..

Not many know that Chithram was remade to Hindi, back in the year 1991. The film, which was titled as Pyar Hua Chori Chori had Mithun Chakraborthy and Gouthami in the lead roles. The film couldn't meet the same success as that of Chithram.

Kakkakuyil, which had Mohanlal and Mukesh in the lead roles was one of the biggest hits of the year 2000. The film, reportedly had an unofficial remake in Tamil. Titled as London, the film featured Prashanth in the lead role and had close similarities with Kakkakuyil.

Kireedam, which fetched Mohanlal his first national recognition, has had a Hindi remake, in the form of Gardish. In fact, it was Priyadarshan who made the movie in Hindi with Jackie Shroff in the lead role. The film is lesser known since it was made much before Priyadarshan became a well-known director in Bollywood

Narasimham is one of the biggest hits in the career of Mohanlal. The storyline of the film was not feasible for an industry like Bollywood. But, the film had a Telugu remake in the form of Adhipathi, which had actor Mohan Babu reprising the role of Mohanlal. Actor Nagarjuna portrayed the role done by Mammootty in the original.

Spadikam, which released in the year 1995 has a cult fan following among the Malayalam film audiences. The film was remade to Tamil as well, in the form of Veeraapu. But, not many know that the Kannada film Mr Theertha, starring Sudeep in the lead role had its storyline similar to Spadikam.

Minnaram directed by Priyadarshan wasn't a big box office back then but later the movie went to make a mark of its own in the hearts of Malayalam film audiences. The film was remade in to Tamil with Karthik and Rambha in the lead roles. Titled as Azhagana Naatkal, the film was directed by Sunder C.

Bharatham fetched Mohanlal his first National Award for the Best Actor. The film was a critical and commercial success. Later, in the year 2000, the film did have a Tamil remake, Seenu, which featured Karthik in the lead role.

Mohanlal's Abhimanyu was released in the year 1991 and it was indeed a different movie from the Priyadarshan-Mohanlal team. Sunder C starrer Thalainagaram, which released in the year 2005 was loosely based on the film Abhimanyu. The remake was a big success at the box office.

In fact, it has to be noted that most of the Mohanlal movies, which have been remade to Bollywood and Kollywood especially, have fetched huge success at the box office. Yes, there are quite a few exceptions, especially in the cases of unofficial remakes.

Now, reports are doing the rounds that Mohanlal's recent blockbuster Oppam, directed by Priyadarshan is all set for a remake in Bollywood. Reportedly, the remake would be directed by Priyadarshan himself and the team is considering Akshay Kumar to reprise the role done by Mohanlal in the original. We hope that the project would materialize soon and would go on to become a big success.
