We
are
half
way
down
the
year
of
2016
and
the
year
so
far,
has
been
quite
an
eventful
one
for
Malayalam
cinema
with
good
number
of
films
faring
well
at
the
box-office.
But,
as
usual,
there
were
some
Malayalam
movies
that
came
in
with
great
hype
but
couldn't
meet
the
expectations
of
the
viewers.
Take
a
look.
Go
through
the
slides
to
know
more
about
the
films..
Darwinte
Parinamam
Darwinte
Parinamam
released
with
much
expectations.
The
film
came
in
after
4
back-to-back
successes
of
Prithviraj.
Moreover,
the
film
was
produced
by
Prithviraj's
own
banner
August
Cinema.
But,
the
film
failed
to
live
up
to
the
huge
expectations.
Leela
Leela,
has
been
one
of
the
most
awaited
films
of
Ranjith.
The
film
scripted
by
Unni
R
finally
came
in
with
Biju
Menon
in
the
lead
role
after
considering
various
other
actors.
Leela
also
went
on
to
become
the
first
Malayalam
movie
to
have
a
simultaneous
online
release.
But,
the
movie
that
came
in
with
huge
expectations
couldn't
cater
to
the
tastes
of
general
audiences.
Valleem
thetti
Pulleem
Thetti
In
fact,
Valleem
Thetti
Pulleem
Thetti
did
have
a
huge
pre-release
hype.
The
stunning
music,
comeback
of
actress
Shamlee
and
the
whole
new
team
did
soar
the
expectations
of
viewers.
But,
sadly
the
film
didn't
manage
to
impress
the
viewers
upon
its
release.
The
lack
of
a
strong
script
backfired
the
movie.
James
And
Alice
James
And
Alice,
which
was
the
third
release
of
Prithviraj,
this
year
so
far,
was
the
debut
directorial
venture
of
Sujith
Vaassudev.
Hence,
expectations
were
fair
enough
on
this
love
story.
But,
the
film
only
catered
to
few
sections
of
the
audience
and
viewers
criticized
the
dramatic
nature
of
the
film
School
Bus
When
Rosshan
Andrrews
teams
up
with
Bobby
Sanjay
team,
the
audiences
would
really
expect
something
special.
School
Bus
definitely
had
its
moments
but
was
unable
to
live
up
to
the
huge
expectations
of
the
viewers.
The
second
half
of
the
film
didn't
go
well
with
the
audiences.
Many
times
we
have
seen
the
huge
expectations
surrounding
the
film
affecting
it
in
a
negative
way.
Most
of
the
films
in
the
above
list
weren't
that
bad,
but
the
expectations
of
the
viewers
did
backfire
them
to
some
extent.
Films
like
Darwinte
Parinamam
and
James
And
Alice
did
get
a
good
opening
but
failed
to
sustain
the
box-office
collections
in
the
later
days.
The
first
6
months
of
2016
also
did
witness
the
comeback
of
the
favourite
duo
of
Siddique
and
Lal
with
the
film
King
Liar
starring
Dileep.
The
expectations
were
definitely
sky
high,
since
it
marked
the
comeback
of
the
favourite
duo
of
Mollywood.
Eventhough
the
film
didn't
meet
the
standards
of
the
duo's
previous
movies,
King
Liar
turned
out
to
be
a
big
hit
at
the
box-office
collecting
more
than
20
Crores
at
the
box-office.
