We
all
know
that,
Malayalm
films
have
got
wide
acceptance
in
the
remake
circuits.
The
number
of
Malayalam
films
which
got
remade
to
other
Indian
languages
stand
as
a
testimony
to
that.
Less
often,
we
have
seen
other
language
Indian
films
being
remade
in
Malayalam.
Let
us
take
a
look
at
some
of
the
Malayalam
remakes
of
popular
Indian
films.
Ithu
Nammude
Katha
This
film
directed
by
Rajesh
Kannankara,
is
a
direct
remake
of
popular
Tamil
film
Nadodigal,
directed
by
Samuthirakani.
The
film
failed
to
deliver
at
the
box-office.
Happy
Husbands
Probably,
this
is
the
only
hit
film
to
feature
in
this
list.
Happy
Husbands
is
the
remake
of
Hindi
film
No
Entry,
which
incidentally
was
the
remake
of
a
Tamil
film
named
Charlie
Chaplin.
April
Fool
This
film
directed
by
Viji
Thampi,
had
its
script
written
by
actor
Jagadish.
The
film
is
the
remake
of
critically
acclaimed
Hindi
film
Bheja
Fry.
Unnam
Unnam
directed
by
Siby
Malayil,
is
a
remake
of
Hindi
film
Johny
Gaddaar.
The
Malayalam
version
couldn't
stay
loyal
to
the
original
and
hence
nose-dived
at
the
box
office.
Aamayum
Muyalum
Priyadarshan
opted
to
remake
his
own
Hindi
film
Malamaal
Weekly
to
Malayalam,
with
Jayasurya
in
the
lead
role.
The
film
which
was
too
lengthy
and
failed
at
the
box
office.
Ivan
Maryadaraman
Ivan
Maryadaraman
starring
Dileep,
is
the
remake
of
popular
Telugu
film
Maryada
Ramanna
directed
by
S
S
Rajamouli.
Ivan
Maryadaraman
was
received
badly
and
the
film
flopped
at
the
box-office.
The
case
of
Malayalam
film
industry
is
different
from
the
other
film
industries
in
India.
Bollywood,
Kollywood
and
Tollywood
are
much
interested
in
remaking
films
from
other
languages.
Malayalam
film
industry
is
not
that
interested
to
remake
films
from
other
Indian
language
films.
Malayalam
audiences
are
open
to
films
of
all
languages
and
they
do
get
in
touch
with
films
of
various
languages
like
Tamil,
Telugu
and
Hindi.
This
is
the
main
reason
why
remake
films
don't
work
out
much
in
Mollywood.
It
wouldn't
be
sensible
to
remake
a
Hindi
movie
like
3
Idiots,
which
might
have
been
seen
by
more
than
50
percent
of
Malayalam
film
audiences.
But,
Malayalam
films
have
had
a
profoud
love
for
English
and
Korean
films
and
there
are
number
of
Malayalam
films
which
are
unofficial
remakes
of
popular
English
and
Korean
films.
