Pics! 12 Times Mammootty Won The Best Actor Trophy At The Filmfare Awards!

The 63rd Britannia Filmfare Awards South saw actor Mammootty winning the Best Actor trophy for his performance in the film Pathemari.

Incidentally, this is the 12th time that Mammootty is winning this prestigious award, which is the maximum by any actor, in Malayalam.

Mammootty leads the race for the Best Actor Award in Malayalam with 12 wins in the category. Mohanlal who has won this award 8 times, is in the second place. Actors Madhu and Jayaram who have won the award 3 times each, are placed at the third position.

Interestingly, Mammootty has went on to win this award 4 times, since the year 2009. The actor won the award the previous year also, for his performance in the film Varsham.

In fact, only Kamal Haasan is ahead of Mammootty in the list of actors who have won the maximum number of Filmfare Awards(South) for the Best Actor. Kamal Haasan has won the award 16 times, so far.

Mammootty did also win a special award named Legendary Award instituted by Filmfare in the year 2006. Including the special award, the actor has won a total of 13 Filmfare awards.
