CONFIRMED: Mammootty Back In Tamil With Ram's Peranbu

Mammootty, the big M of Malayalam cinema, is all set for a second innings in the Tamil cinema. He will play the lead role in the upcoming movie Peranbu, directed by National award winner Ram, the Thanga Meengal fame director.

As per the sources close to the project, Peranbu will start rolling on January 6th, at Kodaikanal. Along with Mammootty, a child artist named Sadhana will essay a pivotal role in the movie. Anjali essays the female lead.

Reportedly, Mammootty is highly impressed with the script and immediately agreed the film when Ram approached him. Yuvan Shankar Raja composes the music. The rest of the star cast of the movie will be revealed soon.

Mammootty made his Tamil movie debut with the popular crime thriller Mounam Sammadham, directed by popular film-maker K Madhu. He achieved stardom in the industry with Azhagan, directed by veteran director K Balachandar.

He shared the screen with superstar Rajnikanth, in Mani Ratnam's action drama Thalapathi. Mammootty last ventured into Tamil industry in 2010, with T Aravind's Vandematharam. The movie, which also had Arjun in the lead role, was a flop.
