WOW! Mohanlal Suggested Mammootty For Karnan!

Mammootty, the Big M of the industry, is all set to portray the epic character Karnan onscreen. Interestingly, it was the complete actor Mohanlal, who suggested Mammootty for the role.

Initially, writer P Sreekumar approached Mohanlal with the screenplay and the actor was impressed. At the same time, Mammootty, who was excited about the project, was enquiring about the developments.

After analyzing the script again, Mohanlal felt that Mammootty is more suitable for the role and suggested the writer to approach him. That is how the movie went to Mammootty.

Even though Mammootty and Mohanlal are rivals at the box office; they are great friends in real life. Interestingly, the actors even stay together, whenever they attend events in foreign countries.

It was Mammootty who suggested Mohanlal for Drishyam, when the director approached him with the script. The duo has acted together in almost 55 movies, in last 37 years.

The yet to be titled Mammootty project, based on Karnan is directed by actor-director Madhupal. The movie depicts the last days and death of Karnan, in the backdrop of Kurukshetra war.

Interestingly, film-maker RS Vimal has also announced a project based on Karnan, with Prithviraj in the title role. The movie is said to be dealing with Karnan's inner conflicts.
