The ban on Rs 500 and Rs 1000 currency notes have come to effect from November 9, midnight onwards. This new step by the Government came as a big surprise to the citizens of the nation.

While celebrities of Bollywood and Kollywood came out, to express their solidarity and support for this movement, which is aimed at eradicating black money from the society, the celebrities of our dear Mollywood also backed the decision of the government.

The major stars of Malayalam films, like Mammootty, Mohanlal, Dileep, Prithviraj, Dulquer Salmaan, Nivin Pauly etc., have not come out with their opinions yet.

However, Malayalam film industry has been slightly affected by the note ban. There has been a slight dip in the collections of Malayalam films like Pulimurugan. Importantly, the release of two Malayalam films, Kattappanayile Hrithik Roshan and Ore Mukham, have been postponed.
