Since Mohanlal's character is a blind man, there won't be any scenes which portray his perspective in the movie. So, the cinematography has been done in a totally different manner.

Interestingly, Mohanlal's character Jayaraman is a person who is extemely positive towards life. He doesn't want others to sympathize for him, so develops some special skills stand out from others.

Even though Mohanlal has played a blind man in a few portions of the popular movies Yodha and Guru, the actor is playing a full-length blind character for the first time in his career, in Oppam.

The movie stars Vimala Raman in the female lead and Samuthirakani, Mamukoya, Nedumudi Venu, etc in the key roles. Oppam is produced by Antony Perumbavoor under the banner Aashirvad Cinemas.
