Pulimurugan And Other Malayalam Films That Joined The 20-Crore Club This Year!
Pulimurugan has raced to the 20-Crore mark and now, the industry has a good number of Malayalam films in the elite club.
Well, this year, so far, has been a good one for Malayalam film industry. Unlike the previous years, this year witnessed a surge in box office collections.
Films in the 20-Crore club were only a few in the past few years. But now, we can see a good number of movies making it to the list. Here, we list the Malayalam films, which made to the 20-Crore club, in this year, so far.
Action Hero Biju
Nivin Pauly starrer Action Hero Biju was the first movie of this year, to join this list. The film, initially faced some intentional degrading, but later the film made a comeback by marking a strong presence at the box office. According to reports, the film went on to gross close to 30 Crores from the worldwide box office.
Maheshinte Prathikaaram
Maheshinte Prathikaram, which met with extremely favourable reviews, did grow with good word of mouth. The film had a steady run at the box office and in the final run, the film managed to cross the 20-Crore mark at worldwide box office.
King Liar
King Liar was the first release of Dileep in 2016. The film, despite of getting not so favourable reviews, marched ahead at the box office. King Liar did manage to gross close to 21 Crores from worldwide box office.
Jacobinte Swargarajyam
After King Liar, Vineeth Sreenivasan's Jacobinte Swargarajyam too, cruised ahead at the box office. The film, managed to cross the 20-Crore mark and grossed close to 23 Crores at the box office.
Oppam
Mohanlal's first Malayalam movie of the year 2016 did create some wonders at the box office. The film, after opening to extremely positive reviews, cruised ahead at the box office and the film crossed the 20-Crore mark in no time. Oppam still continues its golden run at the box office.
Pulimurugan
Nothing much has to be said about Pulimurugan. The film has taken over the box office and is on a record breaking spree. The film reached the 20-Crore mark in 4 days of its run and thus becoming the fastest to reach the mark.
Meanwhile, it is Mohanlal's Pulimurugan, which is the talk of the town. The film is cruising ahead at the box office. The film, by all chances, might end up being the biggest hit of this year.
Apart from Pulimurugan, Mammootty's Thoppil Joppan, is also doing a good business at the box office. The film is also expected to reach the 20-Crore mark in its long run.
Importantly, a few more big Malayalam films are slated for release, later this year. Mohanlal's Munthiri Vallikal Thalirkkumbol, is expected to hit the theatres during the month of November.
Mammootty's The Great Father, Dulquer Salmaan's Jomonte Suvisheshangal, Dileep's Georgettan's Pooram and Prithviraj's Ezra are the other big releases of the year.
