Rajamani,
the
music
director,
who
is
highly
popular
for
his
background
scores,
passed
away
yesterday
(Feb
14th,
Sunday).
The
60-year-old
was
admitted
at
a
private
hospital
in
Chennai,
due
to
health
issues.
He
was
the
son
of
veteran
music
director
BA
Chidamabaranath.
Rajamani
is
survived
by
wife
Beena,
the
former
basketball
player,
sons
Aditya
Rajamani,
a
lawyer
and
Achu
Rajamani,
a
musician.
The
musician,
who
made
his
composing
debut
in
1985
with
the
movie
Nulli
Novikkathe,
had
been
active
in
the
field
since
last
3
decades.
He
has
only
composed
about
150
songs
in
his
entire
career.
Unlike
most
of
his
contemporaries,
Rajamani
was
highly
interested
in
composing
background
score
for
the
movies.
He
has
composed
background
score
for
about
700
films
in
his
career.
Rajamani
was
the
man
behind
the
classic
background
scores
of
several
notable
films,
including
Ekalavyan,
Commissioner,
The
King,
Aaram
Thamburan,
Narasimham,
Nandanam,
etc.
He
had
won
the
Kerala
State
Film
Award
for
Best
Background
Score,
for
his
work
in
Aaram
Thamburan
and
Film
Critics
Awards
for
the
movies,
Nandanam
and
Jayaraj's
Shantham.
