Why Shaji Kailas Backed Out From Mammootty’s Karnan?
Mammootty starrer P Sreekumar project Karnan has been in the pipeline for more than a decade, now. Reportedly, actor-director Madhupal is planning to direct the project.
Interestingly, Karnan was initially offered to popular director Shaji Kailas. But the director decided to drop the project at the pre-production stage itself.
It was the budget issues which forced Shaji Kailas to drop the project, despite being in love with the brilliantly written screenplay.
According to Shaji, it is one of the best screenplays he has ever come across in his career. But, such a huge project was impossible for the industry at that point of time.
Shaji states that P Sreekumar has worked hard for Karnan screenplay. He feels that that hard work should not go unnoticed.
Madhupal, who is currently planning to direct the film, says that the movie needs huge research work. It is not easy to film such a huge project without homework.
He also stated that comparisons between Mammootty and Prithviraj's Karnan characters are completely baseless and illogical.
Madhupal also added that there is no competition between both the projects. However, we are eagerly waiting for the project to take off.
