Box Office Analysis! Top 5 First Day Grossers Of Mollywood!

Records are meant to be broken and of late we have seen big films coming in and breaking many such previous records, on a regular basis.

At present it is Kabali waves all over and the situation in Mollywood is not any different. The Rajinikanth starrer is busy breaking Kerala box-office records.

Meanwhile, here we take a look at the top first day grossers at the Kerala box office. Only Malayalam films have been considered in this list.

1. Kasaba (2016)

Kasaba, which released during this Eid fetched 2.48 Crores on its opening day. The film broke the collection record set by Dulquer Salmaan starrer Kali.

2. Kali (2016)

Kali did have a dream start with the film getting a gigantic opening. The film grossed 2.33 Crores on the very first day, and thus breaking the record set by Charlie, which also had Dulquer Salmaan in the lead role.

3. Charlie (2015)

Charlie was expected to break many box office records and rightly, the film created a record on the first day of its release. The film fetched 2.18 Crores on Day 1 and thus setting the road to victory for the film.

4. Loham (2015)

Loham was high on expectations as it marked the comeback of Mohanlal-Ranjith team. The film registered the biggest opening day collection back then by grossing 2.16 Crores

5. Casanovva (2012)

Casanovva was one of the most awaited films of Mohanlal. The big hype and the wide releasing helped the movie to fetch 2.06 Crores on its first day.

When movies from all the languages are considered, the top first day grosser at the Kerala box office is not a Malayalam film.

Earlier this record was held by Vikram starrer I, which raked in close to 3.19 Crores at the Kerala box office on its first day of release.

Kabali, which released on July 22, 2016, broke this record easily and went on to gross 4.27 Crores on the very first day itself.

Well, we will have to wait and see whether any Malayalam movie could break this existing record. Mammootty starrer Kasaba is now the top first day grosser among the Malayalam movies.

Now, expectations are sky high on Mohanlal starrer Puli Murugan, which is all set for a release in the month of October. The film is expected to break many existing box office records.
