Actor VD Rajappan Passes Away

VD Rajappan, the popular actor cum kadhaprasangam artist passed away. The 66-year-old was admitted at a private hospital in Kottayam. Rajappan was bedridden since the last few years.

Rajappan was born as the son of V Devadas and Vasanthy, in Kottayam. He is survived by wife Sulochana, who was a nurse by profession, and sons, Rajeev, an MG University employee and Rajesh, a nurse.

The actor, who is known as the 'Father of Parody songs' started his career as a comedy kadhaprasangam artist, in 1969. Rajappan established himself as the most celebrated kadhaprasangam artist, within a short span of time.

His popular kadhaprasangam works include MacMac, Chikayunna Sundari, Priye Ninte Kora, etc are still popular among the kadhaprasangam lovers. VD Rajappan made his acting debut with the movie Kattupothu, in 1981.

He later emerged as one of the most celebrated comedians of the Malayalam movie industry, with his flawless comical timing. Rajappan's popular films include Poochakkoru Mukkuthi, Meleparambil Aanveedu, Mutharamkunnu PO, etc.

The actor had mostly collaborated with the hitmakers Rajasenan and Rafi-Mecartin. Rajappan, who has appeared in about 100 films, quit his acting career in 1998. His last movie was Aalibabayum Aarara Kallanmaarum.
