It
came
as
a
pleasant
surprise
to
Malayalam
film
audiences,
when
reports
started
pouring
in
that
M
T
Vasudevan
Nair's
much
acclaimed
novel
Randamoozham
is
all
set
to
have
a
film
version.
The
expectations
further
increased
when
it
was
announced
that
Hariharan,
would
be
directing
the
movie
and
Mohanlal
would
play
the
mythological
character
Bhima,
in
the
movie.
But,
what
happened
to
this
project
later?
In
an
interview
given
to
a
popular
magazine,
director
Hariharan
stated
that
the
project
has
been
dropped.
Initially,
it
was
Gokulam
Gopalan
who
approached
Hariharan
for
a
movie
after
Kerala
Varma
Pazhassi
Raja
and
the
director
suggested
the
idea
of
making
Randamoozham.
According
to
Hariharan,
M
T
Vasudevan
Nair
also
accepted
the
idea
of
making
a
film
based
on
the
novel.
But,
while
penning
the
script
of
the
film,
the
veteran
writer
stated
that
it
would
be
difficult
to
make
the
film
as
a
single
movie
and
two
different
parts
would
be
required.
But,
Gokulam
Gopalan
wasn't
ready
to
make
the
movie
in
two
different
parts
and
hence
the
project
was
dropped
midway.
Well,
that
is
a
bad
news
for
all
Malayalam
film
lovers
as
Randamoozham
was
one
of
the
most
awaited
projects
of
the
recent
times.
But,
there
are
certain
reports
doing
the
rounds
that
popular
ad
film-maker
Sreekumar
is
planning
to
make
the
movie
with
Mohanlal
in
the
lead
role.
