Koodevide, the Mammootty-Suhasini-Rahman starring romantic drama is still considered as one of the best films of that genre. The movie, which was loosely based on a Tamil novel titled Vasanthi, was a huge critical and commercial success.
Suhasini made her Mollywood debut with the movie and established herself as one of the best leading ladies ever worked with Mammootty. Koodevide also marked the acting debut of Rahman, who won the Kerala State award for Best Second Actor of 1983, for his performance.

Prithviraj As Captain Thomas (Mammootty)
Prithviraj is undoubtedly the best choice for the role Captain Thomas, essayed by Mammootty in the original. The actor can perfectly play the obsessive, attention-seeking lover, who doubts his girlfriend's relationship with her student.
Vedhika As Alice (Suhasini)
Vedhika has proved her acting skills with her remarkable performance in James And Alice. We are sure that the actress will be a perfect choice for the role of Alice in Koodevide, a dedicated teacher who shares a very special bond with her student.
Kalidas Jayaram As Ravi Puthooran (Rahman)
Well, we really can't think of any actor other than Kalidas Jayaram, who will make a perfect choice for the role Ravi Puthooran. We are sure that the character of the mischievous yet innocent school kid, who finds a mother in his teacher, will be safe in Kalidas's hands.
Jayaram As Xavier Puthooran (Jose Prakash)
The obvious choice for the role of Xavior Puthooran, the father of Ravi. It will be really exciting to watch Jayaram sharing the screen with his son Kalidas, who has already made his debut as a lead actor.
Rahul Madhav As Captain George (Prem Prakash)

The Director: Lal Jose
Well, it is impossible to imagine any other film-maker in the place of Padmarajan, the legend. But if Koodevide is getting a remake today, Lal Jose is the only film-maker from the current slot, who deserves the director's hat.
Koodevide, which was scripted by Padmarajan, himself also featured several prominent actors including Sukumari, Jose Prakash, Maniyanpilla Raju, Kottayam Shantha, Devi, etc., in the supporting roles.
The movie had bagged the Kerala State Award of 1983 for the Best Film With Popular Appeal And Aesthetic Value. Sukumari, who played the character Susan in the movie, won the State Award of 1983, for the Best Second Actress.
Interestingly, actor Prithviraj had bagged the remake rights of Koodevide a few years back. If the reports are to be true, the actor wants to make his Bollywood directorial debut with the remake of the movie and wants to cast Manju Warrier as Alice.
