Nokkethadhoorathu Kannum Nattu is a classic Malayalam family drama directed by senior film-maker Fazil. The movie, which was released in 1984, had Mohanlal, Nadia Moidu, and veteran actress Padmini in the lead roles.

Nadia Moidu made her acting debut with the movie, which emerged as one of the biggest hits of the year. Nokkethadhoorathu Kannum Nattu was one of the trendsetters of 1980's and is still considered as one of the path-breaking films of Mollywood.

Well, we can't really think of a replacement when it comes to this character. Even though it was a minimal role, veteran actress Sukumari delivered a remarkable performance as Sreekumar's chilled-out mother. We feel that senior actress Revathi will make a good choice for this role, if the movie is remade now.

Initially, Fazil was planning to cast a well-known actress in the role of Girly Mathew, but later he decided to rope in a newcomer. His search for a fresh face finally landed him up in Mumbai, where he found Nadia Moidu.

Initially, Padmini was reluctant to play grandmother to a grown-up girl, as she was just in her 50's that time. But, the actress later changed her mind and decided not to let go a powerful character like Kunjoonjamma Thomas.

Nokkethadhoorathu Kannum Nattu bagged the Kerala State Award of 1984, for the Best Film With The Popular Appeal And Aesthetic Value. Fazil himself later remade the movie in Tamil with the title Poove Poochoodava.
