1971 Beyond Borders, the much awaited flm of Mohanlal did hit the theatres on April 07, 2017. The film, directed by Major Ravi did have a big release, with the movie releasing in close to 405 screens all over India.
The Mohanlal starrer was expected to break some big records on the opening day itself. But now, it seems like the mixed reviews that 1971 Beyond Borders have been receiving have hampered the chances of the movie.
According to certain reports, 1971 Beyond Borders did make a business of 2.80 Crores on its opening day from Kerala alone. The film got released on 193 screens in Kerala with the fans show staring at 9 AM. Nothing much has been revealed about the all India collections of the movie.
Well, there hasn't been any confirmation from the side of the makers and if the above figures are true, it is a very mediocre start by the Mohanlal starrer and the film has failed to beat the collection record of Mammootty starrer The Great Father.

Mammootty starrer The Great Father had a fantabulous start at the box office, with the film fetching 4.31 Crores on Day 1 from close to 200 screens and above 900 shows. If the latest collection report of 1971 Beyond Borders is to be believed, the movie has failed by a big margin to break the big record set by The Great Father, despite having a big release.
1971 Beyond Borders - Day 1 Collection At Kochi Multiplexes
1971 Beyond Borders did have a decent start in Kochi multiplexes with the film fetching 9.91 Lakhs on the opening day from 36 shows. The occupancy rate was 84.14 %, which is quite average considering the fact that it is a superstar movie.

Fourth Best Day 1 Grosser
1971 Beyond Borders is now the fourth best day 1 grosser of all-time in Mollywood. The film is next only to the movies The Great Father (4.31 Crores), Pulimurugan (4.08 Crores) and Oru Mexican Aparatha (3.13 Crores).
How Much Did Mohanlal’s Previous Release Fetch on Day 1?
Mohanlal's first release of the year Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol also made a good start at the box office. The film, despite being a family movie went on to fetch 2.62 Crores on the opening day.
Reviews are also not that favourable for 1971 Beyond Borders with audiences criticing the lame storyline and lacklustre making. Let us wait and see how th movie will be peforming in the coming days.
