19th Asianet Film Awards, one of the most prestigious film award ceremonies of Malayalam movie industry, was recently held at Adlux International Convention Centre, Angamaly. The star-studded event was attended by several bigwigs of South Indian film industry.

Mohanlal bagged the Best Actor trophy for his performances in Oppam and Pulimurugan and Manju Warrier won the award for Best Actress. The actor also mesmerised the audiences by performing the popular stunt sequence from Pulimurugan, LIVE.

Oppam, the Mohanlal starring suspense thriller, directed by Priyadarshan won the trophy for the Best Movie of 2016. Oppam is produced by Antony Perumbavoor for Aashirvad Cinemas.

Abrid Shine, the photographer turned film-maker won the award for the Best Director, for his second directorial venture Action Hero Biju.

The list of the rest of award recipients will be updated soon. As per the latest updates, the channel is planning to telecast the show as two parts, by the last week of January. However, the reports are yet to be officially confirmed.

The social media audiences are not much happy about the 19th Asianet Film Awards result, and have been thrashing the jury for the award choices. The audiences feel that the committee ignored several deserving actors and technicians.

Especially, the audiences are unhappy about Asianet's ignorance towards the films like Guppy, Maheshinte Prathikaaram, Kammatipaadam, etc. They have also been trolled for not considering Nayanatara (Puthiya Niyamam) and Vinayakan (Kammatipaadam) for the awards.
