The
Asianet
Film
Awards
is
considered
to
be
one
of
the
biggest
and
most
popular
private
film
awards
hosted
to
honour
Mollywood
talents.
The
19th
edition
of
Asianet
Film
Awards
was
recently
aired
on
Asianet,
and
it
was
literally,
a
star
studded
event.
Both
Mammootty
and
Mohanlal
were
present
at
the
function.
In
fact,
it
was
Mohanlal
who
won
the
award
for
the
Best
Actor
(Oppam
and
Pulimurugan).
In
fact,
Mammootty
has
won
the
Asianet
Film
Awards,
a
good
number
of
times
in
the
past.
With
as
many
as
six
awards
in
his
kitty,
Mammootty
is
only
second
to
Mohanlal,
who
has
taken
his
tally
of
awards
to
8.
This
time,
Mammootty
did
miss
out
on
the
award
but
here,
we
take
you
through
the
previous
six
instances
when
Mammootty
won
the
Asianet
Film
award
for
the
Best
Actor.

portrayed
a
common
man
named
Madhavan,
who
adopts
a
kid,
a
victim
of
Gujarat
Earthquake.
The
actor
also
went
on
to
win
the
Kerala
State
Film
award
for
Kazhcha.
Ore
Kadal,
Big
B,
Kadha
Parayumbol
–
2007
The
year
2007
was
indeed
a
special
one
for
the
actor,
with
some
good
movie
coming
his
way.
He
won
the
Asianet
Film
Award
for
the
Best
Actor,
for
his
performances
in
the
film
Big
B,
Ore
Kadal
and
Kadha
Parayumbol.
All
the
three
films
had
the
actor
in
diverse
characters
and
he
rightly
deserved
the
big
award.
Pranchiyettan
&
The
Saint,
Kutty
Srank,
Best
Actor
–
2010
After
a
gap
of
close
to
three
years,
the
Asianet
Film
Award
for
the
Best
Actor
came
his
way
for
his
performances
in
the
above
mentioned
movies.
In
Pranchiyettan
And
The
Saint
he
portrayed
the
role
of
a
rich
businessman
hungry
for
fame,
whereas
in
Kutty
Srank,
he
played
the
role
of
a
nomad.
Kunjananthante
Kada
-
2013
The
film
Kunjananthante
Kada,
marked
the
actor's
first
association
with
director
Salim
Ahamed.
The
actor
got
to
play
a
very
complex
role
in
this
movie
and
he
nailed
it
with
his
performance.
Rightly,
he
went
on
to
win
the
Asianet
Film
Award
for
the
Best
Actor.
Varsham,
Munnariyippu
–
2014
Well,
we
all
witnessed
the
brilliant
performances
of
Mammootty
in
these
two
quality
movies,
which
were
released
in
the
year
2014.
Especially,
in
Munnariyippu,
we
got
to
see
a
different
Mammootty
altogether.
These
two
films
fetched
Mammootty
his
sixth
Asianet
Film
Award
for
the
Best
Actor.
Apart
from
the
Best
Actor
Awards,
Mammootty
has
also
been
felicitated
in
the
past
with
some
special
awards,
on
time-to-time
basis.
Disappointingly,
none
of
the
Mammootty
movies
released
in
the
year
2016
could
make
a
lasting
impact.
Well,
we
hope
that
the
year
2017
would
bring
in
some
movies,
which
would
have
Mammootty
in
full-form.
