6 Times When Mammootty Won Asianet Film Awards!

The Asianet Film Awards is considered to be one of the biggest and most popular private film awards hosted to honour Mollywood talents. The 19th edition of Asianet Film Awards was recently aired on Asianet, and it was literally, a star studded event.

Both Mammootty and Mohanlal were present at the function. In fact, it was Mohanlal who won the award for the Best Actor (Oppam and Pulimurugan).

In fact, Mammootty has won the Asianet Film Awards, a good number of times in the past. With as many as six awards in his kitty, Mammootty is only second to Mohanlal, who has taken his tally of awards to 8.

6 Times When Mammootty Won Asianet Film Awards!

This time, Mammootty did miss out on the award but here, we take you through the previous six instances when Mammootty won the Asianet Film award for the Best Actor.

Arayannangalude Veedu – 2000

It was for this film, directed by Lohithadas that Mammootty won his first Asianet Film Award for the Best Actor. The actor had portrayed a character named Raveendranath in this film, which was a family movie high on emotional content.

Kazhcha, Vesham – 2004

Well, the actor received honours for his performances in the films Kazhcha and Vesham. In the movie, Kazhcha he portrayed a common man named Madhavan, who adopts a kid, a victim of Gujarat Earthquake. The actor also went on to win the Kerala State Film award for Kazhcha.

Ore Kadal, Big B, Kadha Parayumbol – 2007

The year 2007 was indeed a special one for the actor, with some good movie coming his way. He won the Asianet Film Award for the Best Actor, for his performances in the film Big B, Ore Kadal and Kadha Parayumbol. All the three films had the actor in diverse characters and he rightly deserved the big award.

Pranchiyettan & The Saint, Kutty Srank, Best Actor – 2010

After a gap of close to three years, the Asianet Film Award for the Best Actor came his way for his performances in the above mentioned movies. In Pranchiyettan And The Saint he portrayed the role of a rich businessman hungry for fame, whereas in Kutty Srank, he played the role of a nomad.

Kunjananthante Kada - 2013

The film Kunjananthante Kada, marked the actor's first association with director Salim Ahamed. The actor got to play a very complex role in this movie and he nailed it with his performance. Rightly, he went on to win the Asianet Film Award for the Best Actor.

Varsham, Munnariyippu – 2014

Well, we all witnessed the brilliant performances of Mammootty in these two quality movies, which were released in the year 2014. Especially, in Munnariyippu, we got to see a different Mammootty altogether. These two films fetched Mammootty his sixth Asianet Film Award for the Best Actor.

Apart from the Best Actor Awards, Mammootty has also been felicitated in the past with some special awards, on time-to-time basis.

Disappointingly, none of the Mammootty movies released in the year 2016 could make a lasting impact. Well, we hope that the year 2017 would bring in some movies, which would have Mammootty in full-form.
