Well, Mohanlal holds the record for the maximum number of Best Actor titles at the Kerala State Film Awards. The actor has won the title, as many as six times.

It was for the portrayal of the title character in the film T P Balagopalan MA, directed by Sathyan Anthikkad, that the actor won his first Best Actor title at the Kerala State Film Awards. The actor won the hearts of the audiences by getting in to the skin of the character.

1991 – Kilukkam, Ulladakkam

1991 – Kilukkam, Ulladakkam

How can we forget these two movies that showed the range of the actor in Mohanlal? In Kilukkam, his role had lot of humurous angle whereas in Ulladakkam, he played the role of a psychiatrist. Rightly, the actor deserved the tittle of the Best Actor and he won it again, for these two movies.

Be it Aadu Thoma in Spadikam or Govardhan in Kalapani, Mohanlal completely stole the show in the respective movies. Thanmathra marked the first association of Blessy and Mohanlal. The actor portrayed the role of Rameshan Nair, who is an Alzheimers patient. Actor was pitted to win all the major awards and rightly, he went on to win big at the Kerala State Film Awards.

2007 – Paradesi

Mohanlal portrayed the role of Valiyakathu Moosa, who despite being an Indian, doesn't get the Indian passport. The film, takes you through the different stages of the character and Mohanlal was spot on with his performance in the film. The actor won his sixth Best Actor title at the Kerala State Film Awards for this movie.

In fact, there has been many instances when Mohanlal was in the final round of the Kerala State Film Awards. Apart from the above mentioned titles, the actor has also won the Special Jury Award for the Best Actor once and that was in the year 1988, for his performances in the films Paadamudra, Ulsavapittennu, Chithram, Aryan, Vellanakalude Naadu etc.
