It was for his performance in the film Balettan that the actor won his first Asianet Award for the Best Actor. Balettan, marked the big comeback of the actor after a series of flops and the film had a phenomenal performance from the actor as the title character.

Thanmathra, Udayananu Tharam (2005)
Well, he definitely deserved this one for his performances in the above mentioned movies. His stellar act in Thanmathra even went on to fetch him a Kerala State Award for the Best Actor.

Keerthichakra (2006)
Keerthichakra marked the arrival of the iconic character Major Mahadevan and Mohanlal was spot on with his performance as the lead character and rightly, he won the Asianet's Best Actor award for the year 2006.

Madambi (2008)
Well, Madambi was a big success at the box office and emerged as one of the biggest hits of 2008, as well. Mohanlal played a character named Puthanveetil Gopalakrishna Pillai, who is a ruthless money lender, in this film. And, this film fetched his fourth Asianet award for the Best Actor.

Bhramaram, Evidam Swargamanu (2009)
Mohanlal was spectacular with his performance in the movie Bhramaram, in which he did a very intense character. In fact, the actor went on to win the award but he had to face a stiff competition from Mammootty, who was also a front runner for his performances in the film Kerala Varma Pazhassi Raja and Paleri Manikyam.

Pranayam, Snehaveedu (2011)
Mohanlal's performance in the film Pranayam as Mathews can be rated as one of his best. The actor truly and rightly deserved this award for the Best Actor, such was his excellent portrayal of the character. he had also given a good performance in Sathyan Anthikkad's Snehaveedu.

The year 2012 was indeed a special one for Mohanlal. He delivered back-to-back blockbusters in the form of the above three movies. The actor went on to win the award for the Best Actor despite facing stiff competition from Prithviraj for the movie Ayaalum Njanum Thammil.
