Ilayathalapathy Vijay, as he is fondly called, is as much a big star in Kerala as he is in Tamil Nadu. Certain films of the actor have done exceptional business at the Kerala theatres.
Now, the actor's latest offing Bairavaa, is all set to open big in Kerala tomorrow (January 12, 2017). According to the latest reports, the film would get released in close to 200 theatres, which include B & C Class theatres and multiplexes.
Going by the track record of his previous movies, Bairavaa too, is expected to make it big at the Kerala box office. Here, we are listing the top 5 grossers of Vijay at the Kerala box office.
Theri (2016)
Theri, which was the actor's previous release did make a gigantic opening at the Kerala box office. The film made approximately 3.18 Crores in its opening day itself. The film made a gross collection of approximately 17 Crores despite releasing during the Vishu season amidst big Malayalam movies.
Kaththi (2014)
Kaththi, which marked the second association of A R Murugadoss and Vijay, did open to positive reviews at the Kerala box office. The film fetched close to 2 Crores in its opening day and made a gross collection of 10 Crores in its final run.
Jilla (2014)
Jilla, which marked the association of two big superstars of South Indian film industry was meant to open big at the Kerala Box Office. The film made a gigantic opening with minting close to 2.6 Crores in its opening day itself. The film did face a drop in collection in the later days, but still managed to gross approximately 9 Crores.
Thuppakki (2012)
Thuppakki came at a time when a film from Vijay of this particular film's genre was much awaited by Kerala audiences. With this movie, he further expanded his huge fan base in Kerala. The film made a gross collection of approximately 11 Crores, which was a huge amount for a Tamil movie, back then.
