Oozham was released during the Onam season of 2016, and despite facing a stiff competition from Oppam, the movie started off on a positive note, grossing above 1 Crore on its Day 1. The initial reviews weren't that favourable, but still the movie sailed ahead and crossed the 15-Crore mark.
James And Alice (2016)
James And Alice, that came in amidst huge expectations couldn't trigger the box office collections. The opening wasn't quite impressive and family audiences were also not showing up to the theatres despite being a good movie. In 14 days, the movie could only manage a gross collection of 6.5 Crores at the box office. According to the reports, the film made a total collection of approximately 7 Crores.
Darwinte Parinamam (2016)
Darwinte Parinamam had a pretty impressive opening with the film fetching 1.48 Crores on its opening day. But, the film fell flat in the later days with negative reviews coming in for the movie. The movie ended up as an average earner at the box office grossing approximately 8 Crores.
Paavada had a memorable outing at the box office. The film, that opened to favourable reviews was the first super hit of 2016. According to the reports, this Prithviraj starrer made a gross collection of 16.3 Crores.
Verdict: Super Hit
Anarkali came in at a time when Prithviraj was having a dream run with the back-to-back successes of movies like Ennu Ninte Moideen and Amar Akbar Anthony. Anarkali too, had a good run at the box office and the film touched the 15-Crore mark.
Well, it is a fact that, most of his recent movies haven't touched the big 30-Crore or 40-Crore marks. If Ezra opens to some grand reviews, then the film might well go on to break some big box office records. Let us wait and see..
