The past week was an eventful one for the Malayalam film industry. Apart from the good shows of some of the recently released Malayalam movies, certain big announcements were also made, which made the week even more special.

The results of Kerala State Film Awards 2016 were appreciated by one and all whereas the news regarding Bhavana-Naveen engagement was a pleasant surprise to many. Read about these and other Mollywood news of the week.

Bhavana-Naveen Engagement

Popular actress Bhavana got engaged to Kannada producer Naveen on March 09, 2017 in a private ceremony, which was held in Kochi. The news came as a big surprise to many and only very few from the industry were informed in prior about the function.

Nivin Pauly And Major Ravi To Team Up

Major Ravi is all set to try his hands on romance genre, with an upcoming film, which would feature actor Nivin Pauly in the lead role. Reportedly, the film will be based on a true incident and the movie is expected to go on floors this year itself.

Sakhavu To Hit The Theatres In April

Nivin Pauly's next big release will be the upcoming film Sakhavu, directed by Sidhartha Siva. Reportedly, the film would be hitting the theatres during the upcoming Vishu season.

Results Of Kerala State Film Awards 2016 Are Out

The results of the Kerala State Film Awards 2016 are out. The official announcement came on March 07, 2016. Vinayakan was adjudged the Best Actor whereas Rajisha Vijayan grabbed the title of the Best Actress. Vidhu Vincent's Manhole won the award for the Best Film and its director was adjudged as the Best Director. Manikandan Achari, wjo impressed one and all with his portrayal of Balan Chettan in Kammatipaadam grabbed the award for the Best Character Actor.

Oru Mexican Aparatha Reached The 10-Crore Mark

Oru Mexican Aparatha, directed by Tom Emmatty is having a dream run at the Kerala box office. The film, which made a thunderous opening went on to touch the 10-Crore mark within 4 days of its run.

40th Film Critics Award Announced

Mohanlal and Nayanthara have bagged the Best Actor and Best Actress award respectively at the 40th Film Critics Award. Mohanlal starrer Oppam was declared as the Best Film and Priyadarshan was adjudged the Best Director of the year.

Ezra Enters The 40-Crore Mark

The latest box office collection report of Ezra is out. The film has entered the 40-Crore mark at the worldwide box office, within its 26 days of run. Reportedly, the film has grossed 40.86 Crores in 26 days of run. The film is also nearing the 30-Crore mark the Kerala box office.

Meanwhile, Oru Mexican Aparatha and Angamali Diaries are doing amazing business at the Kerala box office. Angamali Diaries have been receiving rave reviews from various quarters and the film is set to make it big at the box office, as well.

The last week also witnessed the release of Ayaal Jeevichirippund, directed by Vyasan K P. The film, features Manikandan Achari and Vijay Babu in the lead roles.

The coming week is going to be a grand one for the Malayalam film industry. Two major Malayalam films will be hitting the theatres this week.

Manju Warrier and Shane Nigam starrer C/O Saira Banu will hit the theatres on March 17, 2016. Midhun Manuel Thomas's Alamara, featuring Sunny Wayne in the lead role will be the other major release of this week.
