Ezra, the film which has been the talk of the town since its announcement days, has hit the theatres today (February 10, 2017). The film, that features Prithviraj in the lead role is amovie that the audiences have been eagerly waiting for, since the movie falls to the genre of horror-thriller.

Ezra is something that is new to the Malayalam cinema. More than the scary part, the director has given care to the story part, which is commendable.

Prithviraj Association With Horror Movies
Prithviraj hasn't worked in much horror movies. Earlier, he played the lead role in the horror-comedy Vellinakshathram, directed by Vinayan. It is after a big gap that Prithviraj is associating with a film of this genre. But Ezra, is termed to be different one from all the previous horror movies in Malayalam and the film doesn't have a safety net of a comedy.
Prithviraj Was Willing To Produce Ezra
It was during the shoot of Anwar that Prithviraj got to know about the thread of Ezra. Impressed by the concept, Prithviraj gave a nod to the project and in fact, he even had the plan to produce the movie.
Priya Anand’s Mollywood Debut
Popular actress Priya Anand, who has appeared in various movies like English Vinglish, Fukrey, 180 etc., makes her Mollywood debut with Ezra. The actress has been paired opposite Prithviraj in this movie.
Rumours Surrounding Mohanlal’s Association
Initially, there were lot of speculations doing the rounds regarding Mohanlal's association with the project. Rumours were rife that Mohanlal would be playing the title character Ezra, in the movie. Recently, director Jay K confirmed that the actor is not a part of this project.

Ezra is Jay K's debut movie as a director. Earlier, he has assisted some big directors from Bollywood like Rajkumar Santhoshi and Ram Gopal Varma. He has also worked in the ad-film industry, which makes him an experienced campaigner.
When The Team Experienced Something Paranormal
Ezra did grab the headlines during its shooting days when certain team members of the movie experienced some paranormal activities while the filming of the movie in Fort Kochi. Later, the team brought a priest to bless the set.
A Jewish Background
Reportedly, the story of Ezra has got a Jewish background and the movie will narrate the events in two different timelines. It is for the first time in India that a horror movie is being made with such a background.
