IIFA Utsavam 2017, was held at Hyderabad on March 28 and March 29 to honour the talents of South Indian cinema, who created the maximum impact in the past year.
Awards were given for talents from the film industries of four different languages namely Tamil, Malayalam, Kannada and Telugu. In the Malayalam, actor Dulquer Salmaan and actress Rajisha Vijayan were the ones who bagged the top honours.

Best Actor – Dulquer Salmaan (Charlie)
Dulquer Salmaan, who had given an impeccable performance as the title character in the film Charlie, was awarded the Best Actor title. Unfortunately, the actor couldn't make it to the award ceremony as he was busy with the shoot of his upcoming film.
Best Actress – Rajisha Vijayan (Anuraga Karikkin Vellam)
Rajisha Vijayan, who impressed one and all with her portrayal of the character Eli, in the film Anuraga Karikkin Vellam, was adjudged the Best Actress. This is the second major title that the actress is receiving, earlier being the Kerala State Film award for the Best Actress.
Best Film – Pulimurugan
Pulimurugan, which gave Mollywood its first ever 100-Crore club movie was chosen as the Best Movie. This Mohanlal starrer, directed by Vysakh has fans all over South India and it has taken Mollywood to another level.
Best Director – Martin Prakatt (Charlie)
Martin Prakatt, the man behind the movie Charlie, which has earned a cult status, won the Best Director title. The 3-film-old director packaged Charlie in a brilliant fashion and he even won the Best Director title at the Kerala State Film Awards.
Best Supporting Actor – Vinayakan (Kammatipaadam)
Actor Vinayakan did stun the entire Malayalam film audiences, with his performance as Ganga in the film Kammatipaadam, which had Dulquer Salmaan in the lead role. The actor was awarded the title of the Best Supporting Actor at IIFA Utsavam 2017.
Best Supporting Actress – Aparna Gopinath (Charlie)
Yet another award for Dulquer Salmaan starrer Charlie. In the movie, popular actress Aparna Gopinath got to play the role of a character named Kani, which had immense scope for performance. Rightly, the actress won the title for the Best Supporting actress for the effective portrayal of this character.

Interestingly, it was Dulquer Salmaan starrer Charlie, which won the maximum number of awards. The film was released in the fag end of 2015 and hence, it was considered for IIFA Utsavam Awards.
IIFA Utsavam 2017 was attended by celebrities like Madhavan, A R Rahman, Shriya Saran, Akhil Akkineni, Radhika Sarathkumar, Laxmi Rai, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, Catherine Treasa etc., and a host of other celebrities.
Malayalam celebrities like Kunchacko Boban, Rajisha Vijayan, Vinayakan, Gopi Sunder, Nadirshah etc., also attended the event. Kunchacko Boban did entertain the audiences with his stunning dance performance.
