Jomonte Suvisheshangal
Jomonte Suvisheshangal has grabbed the top spot in this list after making a bumper opening on its Day 1. Reportedly, the film grossed approximately 17.8 Lakhs on Day 1 from Kochi multiplexes. The film had good number of shows and the pre-booking was also impressive.
Charlie
Charlie, which was one of the Christmas releases of 2015 managed to get good number of screens despite facing stiff competition from other festival releases. The hype for the movie was excellent and the movie took a bumper opening by grossing 16.8 Lakhs on Day 1.
Action Hero Biju
Well, Action Hero Biju was one of the big releases on Nivin Pauly in 2016. The actor's movie usually mints huge in Kochi multiplex centres and this movie was no different. The film managed to gross approximately 15.2 Lakhs from Kochi multiplexes on Day 1.
Kali
Yet another Dulquer Salmaan starrer that made a bumper opening in Kochi multiplexes. This film was released in comparatively lesser number of screens but still, the movie did set the cash registers ringing from Day 1 onwards. The movie grossed 14.97 Lakhs on its opening day in Kochi multiplexes.
Pulimurugan
Well, the highest grosser in the history of Malayalam cinema too, did make a grand opening at the Kochi multiplexes. Reportedly, the film made a gross collection of 14.97 Lakhs on its opening day.
With Jomonte Suvisheshangal gaining the top spot, actor Dulquer Salmaan has 3 movies in the top 5 list. Nivin Pauly and Mohanlal have one movie each.
When movies of all languages are considered, Rajinikanth starrer Kabali is the film that leads the list with the film touching the 30 Lakh-mark.
Reportedly, Mohanlal's Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol has made a collection of approximately 12 Lakhs on its opening day from Kochi multiplexes. No official confirmation has been made regarding the same.
