Well, the top slot in this list definitely belongs to Mohanlal starrer Pulimurugan. The film did set some records straight away and the movie did have an amazing first weekend. After grossing above 4 Crores on its opening day, the film made a whopping amount of 12.91 Crores in its first weekend (3 days). That means, the movie grossed more than 4 Crores on each of the first three days.
Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol – 8.59 Crores
The recently released Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol has now grabbed the second spot in this list. The movie made a thunderous opening fetching close to 3.09 Crores on day 1. After 3 days, the gross collection of the film stands at 8.59 Crores.
Jomonte Suvisheshangal – 8.11 Crores
The first major release of 2017 has found a prominent place in this list. The film, which released on a Thursday had the benefit of an extended weekend. After making a solid opening by fetching 2.72 Crores on Day 1, the movie has went on to take its gross tally to 8.11 Crores for its opening weekend.
Oppam – 7.35 Crores
Oppam, which was the Onam release of 2016 hit the theatres on September 8, 2016. In comparison with the other Mohanlal movies, the film did have a meagre start fetching 1.61 Crores on its opening day. The collections of the movie soared to new heights after good reports poured in. According to trade reports, the movie fetched 7.35 Crores in its opening weekend (4 days).
Charlie – 6.83 Crores
Charlie was a real sensation at the box office. The film, took a bumper opening crossing the 2 Crore mark on its opening day itself. The movie had an extended first weekend with 4 days and the total gross collection of the movie after 4 days was approximately 6.83 Crores.
Interestingly, the recent releases Mohanlal's Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol and Dulquer Salmaan's Jomonte Suvisheshangal have found a spot in the list, right away.
Among the above listed movies, Pulimurugan has set a big record, which is seemingly hard to be broken. The film opened to great reviews which also helped the movie to maintain the momentum in the first three days.
