Lijo Jose Pellissery's Angamaly Diaries is one of the best movies of the first quarter of 2017. The film featuring a group of youngsters in it did have a slow start at the box office with the film fetching 2.5 Crores from 4 days. The film did receive amazingly positive reviews which did fuel the movie's run at the box office. If reports are to be believed, the film has crossed the 10-Crore mark and it is still doing a decent business in certain centres.

Take Off

Take Off has been receiving extremely positive reviews from all quarters. The movie, directed by Mahesh Narayanan was welcomed with a standing ovation by the Malayalam film audiences. According to the reports, the film did fetch 6.55 Crores from 1 week and the film is going super strong in majority of the centres. The film is sure to earn a superhit tag in the coming days.

The Great Father

Well, this film made it to the theatres towards the end of March, (March 30, 2017). The Mammootty starrer did make a huge impact from day 1 onwards as the film fetched 4.31 Crores on the opening day and thus setting a new record. Having entered the 20-Crore club in 4 days of time, the film has already earned the tag of a blockbuster. The Great Father is sure to do much bigger business in the coming days as the vacation season holds good prospects for the movie.

Almost all major stars of Mollywood like Mammootty, Mohanlal, Dulquer Salmaan, Prithviraj, Kunchacko Boban, Jayasurya, Fahadh Faasil etc., had a relase each in the first quarter of 2017.

The theatre strike that loomed over the industry in the starting phase of the year did affect the industry a bit but the exceptional show of Malayalam movies have turned the fortune for the industry and its members. We hope that the rest of the year will also be a fruitful one for Mollywood.
