A pleasant news came in recently in the form of a confirmation from actor-writer Sreenivasan, that he will be soon teaming up with Sathyan Anthikkad and Mohanlal, for an upcoming movie.
Well, it has been a long wait indeed and more importantly, we will see the crackling combo of Mohanlal and Sreenivasan, after a brief break.
In fact, the 1980's and the 1990's did witness some brilliant movies from this combo. The writer in Sreenivasan was instrumental in providing some of the memorable characters that Mohanlal portrayed.

1. Varavelpu (1989)
Well, it is always a tough task to pick the best among the many gems that the team has given us. Varavelpu, directed by Sathyan Anthikaad had a well-written script by Sreenivasan. The film did feature Mohanlal in a very different role and it addressed the big issue of the plight of gulf returnees. A very powerful film indeed, which won wide critical acclaim, as well.
2. Nadodikkattu (1987)
Nadodikkattu is one such film that doesn't have any replacement. In fact, it is a movie that has a huge fan-following, even now. The characters Dasan and Vijayan, portrayed by Mohanlal and Sreenivasan respectively, went on to attain a cult status, which eventually led to the next two installments of the series.
3. Udayananu Tharam (2005)
Udayananu Tharam came in at a point when Mohanlal was in need of a very different role. The actor, went on to shed his superstar image for this movie, written by Sreenivasan and directed by Rosshan Andrrews. The film did have some stellar performances from both Mohanlal and Sreenivasan.
4. Sanmanassullavarkku Samadhanam (1986)
This film was indeed a special one from the team of Sathyan Anthikkad-Mohanlal-Sreenivasan. Much like other movies from the team, the film discussed a serious issue and it had the vintage Mohanlal in full-form.
5. Mithunam (1993)
Mithunam, directed by Priyadarshan is one of the most underrated works of the team. This was one of the first movies, to have delved in to the husband and wife issues in the most realistic way. The film had all the labels of an entertainer, but still it didn't lose out the realistic factor.
Apart from the above mentioned films, they have also given some excellent movies like T P Balagopalan M A, Gandhinagar Second Street, Mukundetta Sumithra Vilikkunnu etc.
Most of the films from this team did satisfy the viewers, barring a few. They previously teamed up for the film Oru Naal Varum, which had its script written by Sreenivasan and was directed by T K Rajeev Kumar.
The film couldn't meet the huge expectations bestowed on it. We genuinely hope that their upcoming film would really turn out to be a big film to treasure.
