The month of April offered indeed good prospects for the Malayalam film industry, with a flurry of new Malayalam movies making it to the theatres. But finally, it was Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, which came at the end of the month, which turned out to be the show-stealer.
Apart from dubbed version of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, as many as 6 Malayalam movies made it to the theatres in the month of April. Some movies met the expectations of the people while the rest fell flat.
April started off with Dileep starrer Georgettan's Pooram, and is all set to end in a grand fashion with Baahubali 2: The Conclusion ruling the theatres. In between, Mohanlal starrer 1971 Beyond Borders, Mammootty starrer Puthan Panam, Nivin Pauly's Sakhavu, Jayaram's Sathya, Biju Menon's Rakshadhikrai Baiju Oppu etc., made it to the theatres.

No prizes for guessing the winner. Despite being a dubbed movie, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion has won the hearts of the audiences. The film was the most awaited movie of this month and rightly, the movie has turned out to be the best movie of the month, as well.
Star Of The Month
Well, here is a film-maker who could rightly be tagged as a star. Yes, we are talking about SS Rajamouli, who came up with the magnum opus Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. With this film, he has proved that he is the uncrowned king of Indian commercial cinema.
Big News Of The Month
This particular new came as a pleasant surprise to Malayalam film audiences. The official announcement regarding the cinematic adaptation of the popular novel Randamoozham, did grab the headlines. It was announced that the film will be produced by BR Shetty with a budget of 1000 Crores and the film has been titled as Mahabharata.
Big Disappointments
Much was expected from the two superstar movies, 1971 Beyond Borders and Puthan Panam. Contrary to the expectations, both the films turned out to be big disappointments. These movies couldn't make any mark at the box office.
Notable Performances
Two performances grabbed the eyeballs of the audiences in the month of April. Nivin Pauly, who gave a scintillating performance as Sakhavu Krishnan in the recently released Sakhavu, managed to impress audiences and critics alike.
