Mohanlal is all set to amaze Malayalam film lovers with his latest film Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol, which has hit the theatres today (January 20, 2017). The film directed by Vellimoonga fame Jibu Jacob has been bankrolled by Sophia Paul under the banner Weekend blockbusters.

Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol was earlier scheduled to release on December 22, 2016 but much like all the other scheduled Christmas releases, this film too was pushed ahead owing to the theatre strike.

One Of the Biggest Malayalam Movie Releases Of Recent Times
The makers have planned a big release for the film. Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol has opened at close to 180 screens in Kerala, which is huge considering the fact that it is a family movie. The movie has also grabbed good number of screens outside Kerala, as well. Reportedly, the film has been released at 337 screens across India.
Anoop Menon’s Role Was Supposed To be Done By Biju Menon
Actor Anoop Menon will be seen portraying an important character in the movie. Interestingly, while the movie was announced the name of Biju Menon was doing the rounds for this particular role. But, the actor had to pull out of the project owing to his busy schedules.
Earlier Planned As A November 2016 Release
Interestingly, the makers were planning to release the film during the month of November and the works of film were progressing in such a manner. Later, the makers decided to push forward the dates since Mohanlal's Pulimurugan was ruling the roost in those days.
Sophia Paul – The Person Who Funded Some Quality Movies
The film has been produced by Sophia Paul under the banner Weekend Blockbusters. This name itself is a big boost for the film as the films that she has produced so far, have been quality ones. She is the person who bankrolled movies like Bangalore Days and Kaadu Pookkunna Neram.
Meena Wasn’t The First Choice For Anniyamma
Initially, the makers were planning to cast a newcomer in the role of Annieyamma, the leading lady of the film. But later, they dropped that idea and zeroed in on Meena, who has appeared with Mohanlal in good number of films, with the previous film being Drishyam.
Shot Mainly In Calicut
Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol narrates the life of a person named Ulahanna, who is a government official. The major portions of the film were shot in and around Calicut. A song sequence of the film was shot in Simla whereas another song was shot near the Alappuzha region.
Mohanlal Teaming Up With M Sindhuraj
M Sindhuraj, who has scripted some big hits like Elsamma Enna Aankutty, Puthiya Mukham, Pullipuliyam Aankuttiyum has scripted Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol. It is for the first time that he is penning a movie for Mohanlal. Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol is a loose adaptation of V J James's much acclaimed short story Pranayopanishath. Reportedly, it is not a page-to-page adaptation of the story.
