As per the reports, the makers feel that it is a bad idea to release Sakhavu on April 14th, as the theatre rush would be comparatively low on that day. Reportedly, Sakhavu is having a solo release on April 15th.

The movie, which is scripted by Sidhartha himself, stars Nivin Pauly as the central character Krishna Kumar, a student leader. Sakhavu depicts how Krishna Kumar's life changes after a medical college visit.

Jomonte Suvisheshangal fame Aishwarya Rajesh essays the female lead in the movie, which features actor-writer Sreenivasan and Aparna Gopinath in pivotal roles. Sakhavu is produced by B Rakesh for the banner Universal Cinema.
