Prithviraj's 2016: Not As Good As 2015!

After a phenomenal 2015, actor Prithviraj entered the year 2016, with some big projects in his kitty, which were high on expectations. The actor was expected to recreate the same magic that he casted in 2015.
Up to some extent, the actor was successful in that but, it has to be said that Prithviraj's 2016 wasn't as good as the actor's 2015. Prithviraj had four releases in the year and as far as hits are concerned, the actor did deliver that with some of his movies but still, more was expected from him.
Let us take a quick recap of Prithviraj's 2016 by going through the actor's films released in the year.
Paavada
Paavada was the actor's first release of the year 2016. The film came in after the back-to-back successes of the actor's films in 2015. Paavada, which was in the lines of an entertainer opened big at the box office and emerged as the first super hit of 2016. Prithviraj was much praised for his portrayal of Paambu Joy, who is an alcoholic.
Darwinte Parinamam
Darwinte Parinamam was one of the most awaited movies of the actor in 2016. The reason was quite simple as the movie was produced by the actor's own banner. But, much to the disappointment of Malayalam movie viewers, the film was a complete let down and didn't do wonders at the box office. The film directed by Jijo Antony featured the actor in a common man's role but the actor in him didn't have anything new to do in the film.
James And Alice
Popular cinematographer Sujith Vaassudev turned a director with this film, which had Prithviraj and Vedhika in the lead roles. The film was a slow paced family drama that stayed close to the genre. Prithviraj excelled in the portrayal of James, especially in emotional sequences in which he was simply a show-stealer. Unfortunately, the film wasn't a big success at the box office.
Oozham
Prithviraj's Oozham received mixed reactions from the viewers. While certain section of audiences found the movie to be a decent one, certain others termed it as a complete let down. The film managed to earn a hit tag, but considering the fact the movie came from Prithviraj-Jeethu Joseph team, the movie didn't meet the expectations at all.
Well, the actor didn't have big hits in the lines of films like Ennu Ninte Moideen and Amar Akbar Anthony. Prithviraj's Paavada was the only film of the actor, that earned a super hit tag in the last year.
Meanwhile, the actor once again showed his willingness to experiment with movies like James And Alice, which was indeed a different attempt.
Certain awards also came on his way in 2016 with the actor winning laurels for his performance in 2015 releases like Ennu Ninte Moideen, Ivide etc.
Prithviraj's next release is Ezra, which was earlier scheduled as a Christmas release of 2016. Due to the impending film strike, the film's release has been postponed.
