Nowadays, it is quite rare to see a Malayalam film completing 100 days of run in the theatres. Well, gone are those days when the success of a film was determined by the number of days it ran in the theatres.

But, having said that, certain movies of the present era, do manage to cross the century mark. And only quality films with extreme positive reviews manage to do that. The best example being the 2016 release Pulimurugan, which ruled the theatres.

Vineeth Sreenivasan's Jacobinte Swargarajyam, which was the Vishu release of 2016 did some big business at the box office. The movie successfully completed 100 days of run in Ernakulam multiplex centres.

Ganesh Raj's Aanandam, which is the first production venture of Vineeth Sreenivasan had some fresh faces in the lead roles. Despite having less star value, the movie had an amazing run in the theatres. The movie completed 100 days exactly in Ernakulam multiplex centres.

This Nivin Pauly starrer did face many backlashes upon its release in the form of intentional degrading. But, the movie came back strongly and established its presence in the theatres. The movie successfully completed 100 days of run in Kerala theatres.

Here is another Mohanlal movie that ran for more than 100 days in the theatres. The film, which released on September 8, 2016 completed century in 3 centres. The movie remained rock solid even after the release of Pulimurugan.

Maheshinte Prathikaaram marked the big comeback of Fahadh Faasil to hits. The film was well-received in multiplexes and single screens alike and successfully completed 100 days of run in selected number of theatres.

In fact, the introduction of wide release phenomena has lessened the chances of a film for a continuous run in the theatres. And hence, movies do manage to gross the maximum in the initial days. Moreover, the number of Malayalam movies releasing in a year have also considerably increased.

Meanwhile, Mohanlal's Munthirivallikal Thalirkkumbol and Dulquer Salmaan's Jomonte Suvisheshangal are continuingtheir amazing run in the theatres. Going by the initial reviews, both the films have the potential to complete 100 days of run in the theatres.
