The Great Father, the Mammootty movie has become the talk of the town with both its theme and box office collection. The makers had recently announced that The Great Father has emerged as the fastest Malayalam movie to touch the 20-Crore mark at the Kerala box office.

But, a large group of audiences, who claim to be 'Mohanlal fans', have questioned the authenticity of the box office collection report. They have also openly challenged the lead actor Mammootty, producers Prithviraj, and Shaji Nadesan, to prove the credibility of the report.

In a recent interview given to a popular online portal, Shaji Nadeshan finally opened up about the allegations. The producer stated that the team cannot keep answering to all the allegations. He also remarked that they have never intended to make a film, to surpass the records of Pulimurugan.

Shaji Nadeshan points out that The Great Father is a small-scale film which is made on a budget of just around 7 Crores. Pulimurugan, on the other hand, is a big budget film which is made with a whopping budget of around 25 Crores.

The Great Father obviously had a huge hype because it was a Mammootty film which hit the theatres after aa long gap of 6 months. It is a fact that the megastar didn't have a genuinely good film in the past year, which has also highly helped in the reach of the movie.

TGF had 202 release centres and 101 fan shows on the release day. The noon and matinee shows were quite dull, to the much disappointment of the team. But the movie started picking up by the second show. The team arranged the third show in 51 screens, considering the huge rush.

The movie had 202 screens only for 2 days, as Dileep's Georgettan's Pooram was charted to hit the theatres on April 1. The number shows will definitely have a deduction by the upcoming weekend, as Mohanlal 1971 Beyond Borders is releasing.

Despite being a strike day, TGF experienced a decent rush after the matinee shows. The producer states that the movie set records, only because of the audience rush in the theatres. Shaji Nadeshan, who also declared that he is not a member of any fans associations, stated that the records are bound to be broken, and there is no point in being intolerant about it.
