Why We Say That The Mammootty Starrer Mission 90 Days Is The Best Work Of Major Ravi So Far!

Mammootty starrer Mission 90 Days, directed by Major Ravi wasn't a big success at the box office, but it definitely is the best work of Major Ravi, so far. Read on..

Major Ravi and Mammootty have teamed up only for one movie so far, and that was Mission 90 Days, which released in the year 2007.

The Mammootty starrer wasn't a box office success back then and in fact, the film had an extremely poor run in the theatres. It was so unfortunate that the movie could not earn big at the box office as it was a quality attempt by Major Ravi.

Why We Say That The Mammootty Starrer Mission 90 Days Is The Best Work Of Major Ravi So Far!

Much has been talked about Major Ravi's other movies like Keerthichakra, Kurukshethra, Picket 43 etc., which have been given the tag of the best works of the film-maker. Seldom have we discussed about Mission 90 Days movie, which is a class apart.

It wouldn't be wrong to tag the Mammootty starrer Mission 90 Days as his best work so far, the reasons are aplenty and here we list out some of them.

A Sincere Adaptation Of A Real Incident

A Sincere Adaptation Of A Real Incident

The story of Mission 90 Days is based on Rajeev Gandhi Assassination and the investigation that followed. In fact, Major Ravi gave a realistic touch to the entire narrative and we didn't see the film-maker in him deviating from the plot. Yes, he did resort to certain cinematic liberties but the film-maker in him emerged victorious when they stayed close to the content.

No Over The Top Heroism

No Over The Top Heroism

The best part of Mission 90 Days was in the fact that the film didn't have any over the top heroism. The central character Major Sivaram, wasn't etched adding superstar elements in it (barring the introduction scene of the character) and that really helped the storyline of the movie to take the centre stage.

BGM That Lifted The Mood Of The Movie

BGM That Lifted The Mood Of The Movie

Well, it was Gopi Sunder who worked for the BGM of the movie. In fact, the music composer was in his initial days of his career and his BGM for Mission 90 Days was nothing less than phenomenal. His BGM did provide the required pace and tempo for the movie and thus keeping the audiences glued to the screen.

Some Well-executed Scenes

Some Well-executed Scenes

The film had some well-crafted scenes, especially the ones towards the end of the movie, where the plight and the helplessness of the commandos were shown with utmost sincerity. They never looked forced upon and gelled well with the narrative.

A Daring Climax

A Daring Climax

Not very often do we get to see a Malayalam movie, where the mission of the protagonist comes to a failure in the end. In fact, Mission 90 Days had such a climax where a mission fails and the climax portions have criticised the ego and hypocrisy that exist in some of the bureaucrats. The final sequences, in which Major Sivaram vents out his frustration sums up the film pretty well.

Ironically, the Mission 90 Days is one of the biggest box office flops of both Mammootty and Major Ravi. Probably, the expectations of the audiences from such a movie was something different.
What if the movie had released at this point of time? We definitely feel that it would have fetched the desired success.
