The month of August didn't witness a huge number of releases with all the Malayalam movies scheduled as Onam releases getting pushed ahead due to the heavy rains and the subsequent floods that hit the state of Kerala. Now, the month of September has begun and this month is expected to be a good one for the Malayalam film industry. Majority of the Malayalam movies planned as Onam releases are expected to come out in the theatres in this month and other movies are also expected to join the race. Ranam
Ranam will be the first among the upcoming Malayalam movies to hit the theatres. The much-awaited trailer of the film was released recently and it opened to a grand reception. The film looks like a realistic action-thriller and the movie, starring Prithviraj in the lead role, is hitting the theatres on September 6, 2018.
Theevandi
Theevandi, one of the highly awaited movies of young actor Tovino Thomas, is another movie in the pipeline for a release in the month of September. Directed by Fellini TP, the movie is touted to be in the lines of a social satire. Reports have been doing the rounds that the film might release on September 7, 2018.
Oru Kuttanadan Blog
Oru Kuttanadan Blog was another big movie that was scheduled to hit the screens during the Onam season. The Mammootty starrer directed by Sethu is expected to come out this month. The film has promised to be a breezy entertainer set against the backdrop of Kuttanadu region. Initially, reports had surfaced that the film will grace the screens on September 14, 2018.
Padayottam
Biju Menon starrer Padayottam, directed by Rafeeq Ibrahim, has promised to be a road movie filled with fun. The makers of the film have confirmed that Padayottam will be hitting the theatres on September 14, 2018.
Varathan
Varathan, which marks the second association of Amal Neerad and Fahadh Faasil, is one of the much-awaited upcoming Malayalam movies. The movie looks like a solid product and is expected to grace the screens by the third week of September.
Lilly
Lilly was initially slated for a release on September 7, 2018. Directed by Prasobh Vijayan, the film has evoked the right amount of interest in the minds of the audiences with its captivating posters and fabulous teaser. The film will come out in the theatres on September 28, 2018.
Drama
Mohanlal-Ranjith team's Drama is yet another movie that is expected to come out in the month of September. The film has a good amount of expectations bestowed on it and is touted to be a good entertainer.
Mangalyam Thanthunanena
Kunchacko Boban's upcoming movie Mangalyam Thanthunanena, directed by Saumya Sadanandan is expected to be a good family entertainer. The film features Nimisha Sajayan as the leading lady and the first-look poster of the movie will be released this evening.
Apart from the above-mentioned films, Malayalam movies like Chalakkudikkaran Changathi, Johny Johny Yes Appa, etc., are also expected to hit the screens this month.
