Sarkar Box Office Update: Will The Movie Overtake Theri & Mersal In This Centre?

Sarkar is one of the big movies of the month, for which the Malayalam film audiences were also eagerly looking forward for. The Vijay starrer had made its entry to the theatres in Kerala on November 6, 2018, amidst huge celebrations and it set a new record by becoming the biggest ever release in Kerala. Upon its release, the film has been getting mixed reviews but that hasn't affected the collections of the film much. At the Kochi multiplexes, the film did get a platform for a real big innings. For sure, the comparisons with Vijay's previous big hits like Mersal and Theri are obvious. After the first week of its run, all eyes are on Sarkar and on whether it will go on to overtake these movies or not.
Sarkar's Opening
Much like in the other centres, Sarkar registered a phenomenal opening at the Kochi multiplexes as well. According to a report by Forum Keralam, Sarkar went on to fetch approximately 16 Lakhs on the opening day and registered an impressive occupancy rate.
Theri
Vijay starrer Theri, which released in the year 2016, is indeed one among the top grossers of Vijay at the Kochi multiplexes. The film, which was a blockbuster at the Kerala box office as well, went on to fetch approximately 71 Lakhs in the final run.

Mersal Collections
Mersal also had enjoyed a fabulous run at the Kochi multiplexes. The Vijay starrer, which had hit the theatres in the previous year had gone on to collect around 70 Lakhs from the Kochi multiplexes.

Sarkar's Latest Collection
Sarkar has already completed 1 week of its run at the Kochi multiplexes. The film is gearing up to cross the 50-Lakh mark. According to a report by Forum Keralam, Sarkar has fetched approximately 47 lakhs from the 1 week of its run at the Kochi multiplexes.
Will Sarkar Overtake Theri & Mersal?
Sarkar has as many as 19 shows/day at the Kochi multiplexes on the second week of its run and the film can overtake these movies. But, there has been a drop in the collections on the weekdays. At the same time, the upcoming weekend will be a crucial one for the movie. Everything will depend on how many shows the film will retain for the weekend and the movie's performance in that period.
