Lijo
Jose
Pellissery,
the
supremely
talented
filmmaker
has
finally
reacted
to
the
much-publicized
OTT
release
of
the
Malayalam
films.
As
reported
earlier,
some
of
the
Malayalam
production
banners
have
decided
to
release
their
upcoming
films
directly
on
platforms,
this
lockdown
time.
Lijo
Jose
Pellissery
revealed
his
take
on
the
scenario
through
a
recent
interview.
In
the
recent
interview
given
to
a
popular
Malayalam
daily,
Lijo
Pellissery
stated
that
films
should
be
prioritized
only
after
we
win
back
out
lives
from
the
pandemic.
However,
the
Jallikattu
director
agrees
that
it
is
the
only
means
of
survival
for
the
film
producers
in
the
current
situation.
Here
is
what
Lijo
Jose
Pellissery
has
to
say...
'The
film
producers
have
all
the
right
to
release
their
production
ventures
in
the
platforms
they
think
is
favourable.
Similarly,
it
is
the
theater
owners
who
have
the
right
to
decide
which
film
should
be
released
in
the
theaters.
At
the
same
time,
the
viewers
have
the
utmost
freedom
to
the
medium
and
time
to
watch
the
films
according
to
their
personal
preferences.
However,
it
is
not
practical
for
everyone
to
wait
for
the
release
of
a
film
for
another
eight
or
ten
months.
But
at
the
same
time,
films
should
be
given
the
priority
only
after
we
win
back
our
lives.',
said
Lijo
Jose
Pellissery.
To
the
uninitiated,
the
Malayalam
film
industry
is
all
set
to
have
its
first-ever
direct
OTT
release
very
soon,
with
the
upcoming
Jayasurya-Aditi
Rao
Hydari
starrer
Sufiyum
Sujathayum.
But,
this
decision
has
not
gone
well
with
the
theater
owners
association.
Reportedly,
the
association
has
even
decided
to
ban
Vijay
Babu,
the
producer
of
the
project
from
releasing
his
film
in
the
theaters
hereafter.
