The
Malayalam
cinema
industry
is
going
through
a
tough
time
after
the
all-India
lockdown
was
imposed.
Theatres
in
the
entire
country
have
been
shut
due
to
the
Coronavirus
threat,
which
has
severely
affected
the
functioning
of
the
film
industry.
Recently,
B
Unnikrishnan,
the
popular
filmmaker
and
Film
Employees
Federation
of
Kerala
(FEFKA)
Director's
Union
head
revealed
the
present
situation
of
Malayalam
cinema.
According
to
Unnikrishnan,
the
industry
is
facing
losses
worth
a
whopping
Rs
600
crore!
Even
after
the
lockdown
ends,
the
Malayalam
film
industry
is
going
to
be
the
last
priority
in
business
for
obvious
reasons.
In
that
case,
both
the
public
enterprises
and
banks
might
end
up
deciding
not
to
back
the
projects,
which
are
currently
under
the
making.
Marakkar
Arabikadalinte
Simham,
one
of
the
most
awaited
upcoming
projects
of
the
Malayalam
film
industry
is
made
on
a
budget
of
about
Rs
100
crore.
Malik,
the
Fahadh
Faasil-Mahesh
Narayanan
project
is
made
with
a
budget
of
Rs
22
crore.
Antony
Perumbavoor
and
Anto
Joseph,
the
producers
of
these
films,
are
going
through
a
very
tough
time,
as
they
have
to
pay
the
interest
to
the
financiers.
Apart
from
the
above-mentioned
films,
which
we
expected
to
release
in
the
last
week
of
March
and
the
first
week
of
April
2020,
the
Vishu
releases
and
May
2020

are
also
in
trouble.
