Mammootty
and
Mohanlal,
the
Malayalam
superstars
have
acted
together
in
over
55
films
in
their
career
to
date.
In
2017,
it
was
reported
that
Mammootty
and
Mohanlal
are
all
set
to
join
hands
for
a
project
titled
Hello
Mayavi.
But
the
project
which
was
supposed
to
be
helmed
by
Shafi
never
got
materialised.
In
a
recent
interview
given
to
a
popular
media,
director
Shafi
finally
revealed
what
happened
to
Hello
Mayavi.
According
to
the
filmmaker,
both
Mammootty
and
Mohanlal
were
highly
impressed
with
the
storyline
of
Hello
Mayavi,
which
was
supposed
to
be
a
combined
spin-off
to
the
blockbuster
Mohanlal
starrer
Hello
and
Mammootty
project
Mayavi.
Both
the
superstars
readily
agreed
to
reprise
their
celebrated
characters,
Mahi
aka
Mayavi
and
Adv.
Sivaram
in
Hello
Mayavi,
and
asked
Shafi
to
work
on
the
script.
But
the
team
was
later
forced
to
drop
the
project
due
to
the
stubbornness
of
a
few
other
industry
members.
However,
the
director
did
not
reveal
the
names
of
anyone
in
the
interview.
According
to
director
Shafi,
Hello
Mayavi
had
a
promising
storyline
and
would
have
emerged
as
a
blockbuster
if
it
had
released.
After
the
project
was
shelved,
the
filmmaker
was
also
planning
to
direct
a
sequel
to
the
Mammootty
starrer
Mayavi.
But
that
project
too
did
not
materialised
due
to
unknown
reasons.
Mayavi,
which
was
released
2007,
featured
Mammootty
as
the
titular
character
Mayavi
aka
Mahi,
an
ex-convict.
The
project,
which
was
scripted
by
Shafi's
elder
brother
director
Rafi
and
his
partner
Mecartin,
had
emerged
as
a
blockbuster.
The
movie
was
later
remade
in
Tamil
with
Arjun
Sarja
in
the
lead
role.
Hello,
on
the
other
hand,
was
written
and
directed
by
Rafi-Mecartin
duo.
The
Mohanlal
starrer,
which
was
also
released
in
2007,
was
also
a
huge
success
at
the
box
office.
The
complete
actor
played
the
role
of
Adv.
Sivaraman,
an
alcoholic
who
was
once
a
lawyer
in
the
movie.
