Director KG George Passes Away: In what came as a piece of shocking news from the Malayalam film industry, renowned filmmaker KG George passed away today. According to media reports, he breathed his last today at the age of 78. The media reports also suggested that KG George wasn't keeping well for a while.

As per a report published in Manorma Online, KG George passed away at Kakanate Old Age Centre in Ernakulam. He was undergoing a treatment after suffering from a stroke and breathed his last there. Reportedly, KG George is survived by his wife Salma who is the daughter of Pappukutty Bhagwat. KG George and Salma also have a son named Arun and a daughter named Thara. As the news has sent a wave of shock and grief across the industry, the details about the filmmaker's funeral are still awaited.
Talking about KG George, he has enjoyed a phenomenal journey in the Malayalam film industry. Born in Thiruvalla, KG George made his debut with the 1976 release Swapnadnam. He later went on to give superhits like Ukkadal, Mela, Yavanika, Lekha's Death in a Flashback, Adam's Rib, Panchavadipalam, Irakala, Another One. His last directorial was the 1998 release Elavankodudesam. Later he produced the 1992 release TK Mahanagaram which featured Mammootty in the lead.

For the uninitiated, KG George was selected as a jury member for the prestigious National Film Awards in 2000. He also chaired the jury of the State Film Awards in 2003. He was appointed as the chairman of the Film Development Corporation (KSAFDC) and served in the position for five years.
KG George was honoured with the JC Daniel award in 2016. He also served as MACTA Chairman
