Vipul Amrutlal Shah's film 'The Kerala Story', which has been released in various languages including Hindi, Malayalam and Tamil, has been facing strong opposition. Directed by Sudeepto Sen, the film stars Adah Sharma, Yogita Bihani, Siddhi Itnani and Sonia Balani in pivotal roles.
Tamil Nadu & West Bengal
Muslim organizations and many political parties are protesting against this film. The day after the release of the film in Tamil Nadu, there was a blockade and the theater owners refused to screen the film due to security concerns. The West Bengal government has banned the film The Kerala Story, saying it will cause law and order problems in West Bengal.
Free Tickets In Mumbai
However, Hindu organizations and BJP are supporting the film The Kerala Story. BJP leaders buy tickets for public and volunteers to watch 'The Kerala Story' movie in Mumbai for free. In Mumbai, BJP ministers Mangal Pratap Lodha, Atul Bhatkalkar, MLAs Sunil Rane and Barak Shah arranged for volunteers to watch the film for free. Because of this, 'The Kerala Story' is doing well in Mumbai.
'Producer Of The Kerala Story Movie Should Be Hanged'
In this situation, the Nationalist Congress Party led by Sarathpawar has strongly opposed the film 'The Kerala Story'. Senior Nationalist Congress leader and former minister Jitendra Awhad said furiously that the producer of that film should be hanged in public.
In this interview, he said, "They are not only tarnishing the name of Kerala, they are insulting the women of that state. They are saying that 32 thousand Kerala women have joined the ISIS terrorist movement, but actually only 3 people have joined. The producer of that film should be hanged in public."
State Government Has No Power?
In this case, the producer has filed a case in the Supreme Court against the ban on the movie 'The Kerala Story'. In that petition, the state government (Government of West Bengal) has no power to ban the film after it has been certified by the Central Board of Certification. It has also been reported that the state government cannot show law and order as the reason for banning the film.
Also, because of the warning issued by the Tamil Nadu government to the theater owners regarding the movie 'The Kerala Story', the movie has been indirectly banned from screening. The petition said that the theaters where the movie The Kerala Story is being screened in Tamil Nadu should be ordered to provide security.
