The West Bengal government has banned the film The Kerala Story, which focuses on conversion and terrorism. Similarly in Tamil Nadu theater owners announced that the film The Kerala Story will not be screened due to pressure from various quarters.

Supreme Court Questions West Bengal And Tamil Nadu Government

The case filed against this in the Supreme Court on behalf of the film production team was heard in the session of Chief Justice Chandrachud and PS Narasimha. The judges questioned why the film was banned only in West Bengal when the film was released in all parts of the country.

Responding to that, West Bengal government advocate Abhishek Singhvi said that the intelligence agency had warned the state government that there would be a law and order problem if the film was released.

Indirect Ban For The Kerala Story In Tamil Nadu?

After hearing the arguments of all sides, the judges questioned whether the film The Kerala Story was indirectly banned in Tamil Nadu as well. They also asked what the Tamil Nadu government is doing without providing security to the theatre, when it is said that there is a threat.

In this regard, the judges ordered to send a notice to the government of Tamil Nadu and West Bengal and ordered to give an explanation by May 17.

The Kerala Story, which has completed its first week of theatrical release amidst all the protests is now released and running in theatres of more than 37 countries across the globe.
