According to a report in Times Of India, the Narcotics Control Bureau arrested Sobha on January 31, 2021, after they recovered 480 gms of ganja from her clothing store in Thiruvananthapuram. This created a controversy, setting several tongues wagging. Sobha, who remained in headlines during the controversy, wrote a letter to Kerala's Chief Minister and the Director General of Police, requesting them to help. After the Chief Minister initiated a Crime Branch inquiry into the case, it was revealed that Sobha was framed by a male friend. The report in the leading daily said that her male friend was reportedly stalking her after she declined her marriage proposal.
